The Permian Basin
The Permian Basin

The Permian Basin is located in West Texas and south east New Mexico the formation is approximately 300 square miles.  It is the remains of three ancient ocean formations. Three distinct time zones are identified as shale sediment in the basins of the Permian Basin.

The Permian Basin: The Midland Basin, The Delaware Basin, and Marfa Basin.

These time zones have left their own remains in the shale sediments which are identified as: The Midland Basin, The Delaware Basin, and Marfa Basin. These same time zones and prehistoric oceans are identical to the Fort Worth Basin of North Texas and its three distinct time zones in its Barnett Shale.

Sylvite was discovered in drill cores in 1925, and production began in 1931.
The mines are located in Lea, County, New Mexico.

The Permian Basin stretches from Roswell, New Mexico to Big Spring, Texas.
The core of the Permian Basin is considered to be Midland Odessa, Texas.
